Open Farm Base was an attempt to create Wikipedia for small-scale farming - a collaborative knowledge base for growing food locally.

The Concept

Aggregate farming knowledge that's typically siloed in regional guides, academic papers, and oral traditions. Make it searchable, editable, and freely available.

What We Learned

Community-driven content platforms need critical mass to be useful. Bootstrapping the initial content and contributor base is the hardest part.
